Safeguarding Your Financial Information and Identity
Your Resume Could Put You At Risk
Your resume should help you get a job but it could also allow identity thieves to help themselves to your identity. Never include information like your Social Security number, birth date, marital status, license numbers (driver’s license, contractor’s license, etc.), or even the reason you left a previous job.
In fact, some experts feel you should not list graduation dates, instead simply noting the college or institution you graduated from.
Why? Identity thieves are skilled at turning small bits of information into much more. Knowing the date you graduated from college could allow them to access information from your college. Over time, an identity thief can leverage a little information and turn it into a lot of information.
