Why Not Negotiate?
Most of us haggle over the price of a home, a car, furniture, or other big-ticket items, but even department stores and other retailers are receptive to negotiations. Big-box stores, for example, will frequently match a price you find in another store. If you don’t ask, you won’t receive. The next time you visit a store especially a locally owned store don’t assume the sticker or ticket price is the lowest price you can pay. Ask for discounts or other price breaks, especially if you buy more than one item. Most businesses will prefer to forego a little profit than to lose a sale and make no profit at all.
