Want to Save More? Go “Cash”
Debit cards and credit cards are incredibly handy, but there can be a downside: If you don’t pay attention, you may end up spending more than you plan… or can afford.
An easy way to get your spending back on track is to go “cash only” for a month or so. Take a budget category like “entertainment.” Decide how much you can afford to spend this month, withdraw that much cash, and only use cash when you go out, rent movies, buy books, etc. That way you will always know where you stand, and will be less likely to make “automatic” purchases that add up to a lot more than you think.
